Report of person in water off Foster Beach deemed ‘unfounded’

A call of a person in the water, which led to a search for a person in Lake Michigan off Foster Beach Tuesday afternoon on the North Side, has been deemed unfounded.

At 11:27 a.m., the Chicago Police Marine Unit responded to a report of a person near the water in the 5100 block of North Simonds, according to police.

Adverse weather and water conditions hindered the search, and the report has been deemed unfounded, Chicago Fire tweeted.
